Ready to take a little stroll through the Skydance project? Sometimes in order to really appreciate how far a space has come, we gotta take a look back…
This project was for some very special friends of mine; lots of time spent in their kitchen for happy hours and cookie making at Christmas. They have always had the coziest and homiest of spaces (partly because that is who they are as people) and we had to preserve that feeling as we brought in the new. We have coined this style “East coast traditional meets modern farmhouse” and it is perfectly suited to the homeowners.

The scope of this project was designed to give the full main level a facelift. The kitchen layout and cabinetry were in good shape and functioned well for the clients, so we worked with those as is, and saved the budget for refinishing hardwood floors, full house paint, and designer touches to the kitchen: lighting, backsplash, hood, island shape, and updating the beverage bar area.
When they originally purchased the home, it was a spec home from the builder. The finishes were well done at the time, but weren’t what they would have chosen themselves. We had so much fun re-working it to fit their personal style.

The entryway was another area due for a refresh. The builder grade staircase had seen better days, and the carpet was very much due for a change. The staircase is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door and it needed to have something good to say! We ran the hardwoods up the stairs and added a plaid runner for functionality and a little extra style.

One of the most special makeovers was in the main level powder bath. We tied in the millwork style from the staircase but selected Benjamin Moore Blue Spruce for the paint color. With the Scalamandre Idun Wallpaper, the space feels unique and bold, but still cohesive with the rest of the home.

We also did a furnishing refresh for the home, working with many existing pieces, but updated lighting, accessories, accent chairs, counter stools, and rugs. Have a peak at that fireplace makeover too! The brick really sets the tone for the space in both the kitchen and great room.
