At Katie Becker Design, we believe the most beautiful homes are the ones that feel intentional from the moment you walk through the door. The Stonedale Project was a perfect example of how thoughtful planning, cohesive materials, and strategic remodeling can completely transform the way a home looks, feels, and functions.
This full-scale remodel included a complete redesign of the main floor, primary and secondary bathrooms – all centered around one clear vision: creating a home that felt connected, elevated, and timeless.
Before construction began, we developed a comprehensive design plan that established the foundation for the entire home. Rather than approaching each room individually, every space was designed holistically to ensure seamless flow throughout.
From flooring selections and cabinetry finishes to lighting, textures, and furnishings, every detail was intentionally chosen to complement the next. This upfront planning allowed the home to feel layered and cohesive rather than disconnected room-to-room.
The result is a home that feels unified and thoughtfully curated at every turn.
One of the most transformative elements of the remodel was the kitchen redesign. The original layout included a peninsula (thank you 1990’s) that visually separated the kitchen from the living room, limiting both functionality and flow. By removing the peninsula, we were able to completely open the space and create a much more connected main living area.
This redesign allowed for:
The new kitchen feels significantly more open, inviting, and integrated into the overall home design.
Layered finishes, warm textures, and timeless materials tie the kitchen seamlessly into the surrounding living spaces while still allowing it to serve as a focal point.

To further enhance continuity, all new flooring was installed throughout the home. Consistent flooring plays a major role in creating visual cohesion, especially in open-concept spaces. The updated flooring instantly modernized the home while establishing a warm, grounded foundation that carries from room to room.
This simple but impactful change helped unify the entire remodel and created a more expansive, seamless feel throughout the whole home.
The great room remodel became one of the defining moments of the entire project. The fireplace was completely redesigned to serve as a striking focal point within the home, finished in a rich Venetian plaster that added warmth, depth, and subtle texture to the space. To further enhance the architectural balance of the room, we designed a custom arched built-in that mirrors the home’s existing arched entryway, creating intentional symmetry and continuity throughout the main floor. These thoughtful details elevated the great room while reinforcing the cohesive design language carried throughout the entire home.
The dining room was redesigned with layered textures, updated lighting, and furnishings that feel elevated yet approachable. The space now feels connected to the surrounding areas while still maintaining its own character.
The staircase received a complete refresh, becoming a true architectural feature within the home. Updated finishes and detailing helped modernize the space while enhancing the overall flow of the main floor.
A custom statement millwork wall that welcomes you as you walk in from the front door was added to bring depth, texture, and visual interest to the home. This feature became an anchoring design element that reinforces the home’s cohesive aesthetic. The homeowner lovingly coined the term, “fancy wood” as it brought an artistic element to the home with simply wood and paint.
All new lighting and furnishings were thoughtfully selected to complement the architectural updates and create consistency throughout the home. Repeating finishes, tones, and materials helped tie each space together effortlessly.

The remodel also included a complete transformation of the primary and secondary bathrooms.
Each bathroom was designed to feel elevated, timeless, and functional while still maintaining consistency with the rest of the home. Through cohesive material selections, layered textures, and thoughtful detailing, these spaces now feel like natural extensions of the overall design story.

What makes the Stonedale Project truly special is not just the individual spaces, it’s how every element works together. Not to mention the very special family that lives within the walls.
By repeating similar finishes, warm tones, and intentional design details throughout the home, we created a sense of continuity that allows the entire remodel to feel unified and effortless.
This project is a reminder that great design isn’t about making every room identical. It’s about creating balance, flow, and connection so a home feels complete as a whole.
And that’s exactly what the Stonedale Project became: a thoughtfully reimagined home designed with cohesion at the center of every decision.
