Simple styling tips to elevate your kitchen

You have the designer kitchen you’ve always wanted, now how do you style it? Styling your kitchen for everyday use is about finding a balance between functionality and visual appeal. We have some easy tips that will help to create an elevated yet usable kitchen that you love.

Clutter-free

Most importantly, try to keep it clutter free. The more you can store in cabinets, the cleaner (and more usable) your kitchen will feel. For items that you use everyday (e.g. hand soap, coffee maker, et al), treat yourself to an elevated style so that it doesn’t distract your eyes from the high-end design of your overall kitchen. We like to use things like ceramic trays and refillable soap dispensers, marbled paper towel holders, chrome toasters, and glass jars for cooking oils. You want your kitchen to be functional since it happens to be the one area of the home that everyone spends the most time in.

Add warmth with natural elements

For the island, find a beautiful bowl or tray to keep fresh produce out (not to mention a higher likelihood of healthier snacking!). Lemons, oranges, apples and bananas are not only delicious, but pretty to look at. Vases in varying heights with stems also add an earthy and clean vibe to your overall aesthetic. One of our favorite go-tos for an island is pairing an oversized vase with stems next to a tray with a fresh scented candle.

Style thoughtfully and personally

You know those gorgeous corners where the cabinet and the counter and the backsplash all meet? That happens to be the perfect spot for small art. Put your kids’ art in a fancy frame on a mini easel, or a nostalgic piece from your travels in an acrylic frame. You will also never go wrong with layering cutting boards and art. And try displaying them against outlets that don’t get used so they stay hidden.

Layered lighting

How about a little mood lighting? The dishes are done and the timers on those candles just lit themselves…it’s time to enjoy a cozy night with your family. Undermount cabinet lighting can also double as accent lighting, highlighting the backsplash or decor on the counters. It is also a great way to create a warm, inviting glow.

Monochromatic colors

Nothing distracts the eye more in a designer kitchen than a lot of different colors. When styling your kitchen, select decor and accents that are all in the same color family. Try to stick to a main color in varying shades to keep it visually appealing. Whites, grays and beiges work well for everyday use (and bonus, hide messes better!). You can sprinkle in some color with your produce bowl, greenery, and a rug.

These are our fail-proof ways to style a kitchen that exudes a designer aesthetic but also keeps your kitchen functional for everyday use.
